On Tuesday, BC Kalev/Cramo got their third victory of the season in VTB as they defeated Zielona Gora Stelmet 80:77 (16:21, 25:19, 22:21, 17:16).
The visitors had a great start to the game as they took a good 11 point lead but thanks to balanced offense Cramo climbed back and thanks to a 10:0 run in the final minutes of the quarter, Stelmet had a 1 point lead going into the second quarter. The game was a tight battle til the final minutes of the game, 2.40 before the end of the game, the hosts were down 69:75 but thanks to baskets from Salash, Lynch and Lewis gave Kalev a narrow 76:75 lead. Free-throws from Kitsing and Mirkovic helped secure a crucial win going forward in the season.
Mirkovic who played 37 minutes, finished with 18 points, 8 assists, 6 rebounds and 4 steals. Lewis had 15 points and 9 rebounds. Both bigs for Kalev performed well as Lucas had 14 points and Lynch 13.
Markel Starks and Darko Planinic finished with 17 points while Michal Sokolowski had 11 points.
Coach Kairys said after the game: ” The whole game was nervous. We didn’t play the best but managed to take a win. I am very happy that we got our first win in front of the home fans!”
Kalev is on the 7th spot in the standings with 3 wins and 4 losses while the Polish club has 2 wins and 3 losses and is on the eight place.
