Strong second half rewards Zenit with a win

BC Kalev/Cramo got their third loss of the season to go with their three wins after admitting a 87:100 (47:42) to Zenit in St. Petersburg.

Both teams were missing key players as Kalev played without injured Erik Keedus, Ivan Almeida and Martin Dorbek while Zenit was missing former NBA player Brandon Jennings and one of their leaders Gal Mekel.

After changing baskets back to back to start the game, the first has was a close game, Kalev leading the way 47:42. Coming into the second half, hosts Zenit started of better as they climbed back the deficit and held Kalev without points for five minutes. Thanks to great shooting from behind the arc, Zenit continued a good run and got a comfortable 13 point win.

One big key for the win was rebounding as Zenit outrebounded Kalev 34:25.

Zenit had six players who had 14 or more points as Karasev, Reynolds and Voronov finished with 17 points. Branko Mirkovic had 17 points and 8 assists for Kalev, Lewis and Lynch added 16, Kitsing 15, Jõesaar 10, Kangur and Salash 5 and Lucas 4 points.

CSKA and Khimki are at the top of the standings while are in fourth place Zenit with four wins and two losses while Kalev has 3 wins and 5 losses and are at seventh spot.
