Led by Moultrie, Kalev was close to beating Khimki

In VTB United league Kalev/Cramo had to admit a difficult loss against the strong Moscow Khimki even though the hosts dictated most of the game the favourite Moscow team managed to get a 96:85 (20:30, 33:21, 12:16, 31:18) win thanks to better performance in the closing minutes.

Kalev/Cramo who have been in a roll in VTB started of well and scored 30 points in the first quarter and even grew the lead to 12 points in the first half but Khimki, led by Shved and Timma, quietly came back and the half-time started with a 53:51 lead for the visiting side. The third quarter was similar to first half – a tight game dictated by Kalev/Cramo but things went sour in the final quarter as Kalev was unable to score and defend which gave Khimki the chance to close-out the game in the final minutes thanks to big performances by Mickey, Timma and Shved.

Jordan Mickey had 25 points, 8 rebounds and 4 blocks for Khimki, Shved finished with 20 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists and a nice debut for Latvian Janis Timma – 17 points.

For Kalev/Cramo Arnett Moultrie made 12 of his 14 shots and had a big night with 30 points and 5 rebounds, Tony Wroten added 20 points and 5 rebounds.

BC Kalev/Cramo now has 9 wins and 11 losses which gives them the eight position right now. Khimki (14-5) is third in the standings.
