The 2000 fans at St. Petersburg Jubileiny sports hall got a real thriller for their money’s worth as the third best team in VTB and EuroCup quarter finalist Zenit struggled to get a win against BC Kalev/Cramo. In the end the hosts managed to sneak out a 85:80 (40:47) win.
Zenit led the game less than 5 minutes during the whole game and found themselves down by 11 in the first and 7 in the last quarter but managed to squeeze out the win in the final four minutes of the game. An and one for Karasev who finished with 22 points, a steal by Malcolm Griffin and a basket by Drew Gordon gave Zenit a quick five points and made it a 4 point game, Kalev tried and tried but wasn’t able to get the lead back.
Isaiah Briscoe finished with 24 points and 7 assists, Subotic had also 24 while Mars added 12 points. It was a bad day for one of our leaders as Branko Mirkovic missed all 11 shots.
