BC Kalev/Cramo changes the head coach

BC Kalev/Cramo ended the contract of Alar Varrak, who steered the club to 5 Estonian championships in addition to winning two Estonian cups and dominating the Estonian league. The club had a great 138-14 record during Varrak’s regime. The club would like to thank Alar for all the work, wins, titles and development.

BC Kalev/Cramo is close to an agreement with Donaldas Kairys, who has been an assistant coach for Lithuania in five big tournaments, has been crowned Euroleague champion as an assistant coach with Moscow CSKA in 2008 and was part of 2003 San Antonia Spurs title run.

Ivar Valdmaa: The board decided today that Alar Varrak will not continue as the head coach of BC Kalev/Cramo. It was a hard decision that had to be made. The clubs success and play this season did not satisfy the owners, the fans and the sponsors.

Alar Varrak has worked for the club around 10 years and we believe that he needs a new challenge to maximize his potential. We wish Alar all the best going forward. ”

Martin Müürsepp will also leave with Alar Varrak, but they both will continue working on different areas and project with the club.

Alar Varrak: In being totally sincere and honest, the club made the right decision. For me it was ofcourse hard but I understand the clubs side. We had a great team this season and with the addition of Isiah the team seemed to pe completed. Unfortunately I was not able to make it work which hopefully the new coach will be able to do.

I would like to thank the club for all the years together, it’s not common in today’s world that a coach is with a one team for so long which I am proud of. Good luck for the team going forward.
